Finals:

In the first ever PACE National Scholastics Championship, held at Case Western Reserve University, State College A ran out to a 150-0 lead five questions into finals en route to a 460-195 victory over Henry Ford II. Henry Ford II (12-2) had handed State College A (12-1) its only loss in the last playoff round.

Semifinals:

State College A edged Gonzaga (10-2) 300-260 in one semifinal while Henry Ford II pulled off a 290-240 victory over Copley (10-2).

Consolation Bracket:

The Governor's School for Government and International Studies (later to be named for Maggie Lena Walker) got past North Kansas City 290-270. North Kansas City (5-5) had punched its ticket to the finals with a 330-230 win over St. Charles Preparatory (5-4) while the Governor's School (6-3-1) slipped past Rockville (5-4) by a 300-290 margin in its semifinal game.
